New Madrid SCR ProjectLocation: New Madrid, MO Owner: Associated Electric Cooperative Year: 2001 The New Madrid SCR project is the retrofit of a selective catalytic reduction system for NOx control at a two unit, coal fired power plant with a total station output of 1200 MW. Major modifications include installation of the catalyst chamber, and ammonia storage and feed systems. The project also included modifications to the ductwork and dampers, air heaters, soot blowing, and ash handling systems. Startup Operations Services provided full startup, commissioning, and initial operations of the facility. Supporting work included the development of a detailed startup schedule, system startup packages, a startup manual, and test procedures. Installation and startup of the ductwork and dampers was integrated into the facility outage schedule to prevent delays in returning the plant to service. Major startup activities included system tuning for NOx minimization and third party emissions testing. |
