Transportation can be a large component of solid fuel costs. Locating power plants adjacent to mines will almost eliminate this delivery cost. The TransAmerican Generation Grid (TAGG) expects fuel costs to average between $0.45 and $0.55 per million BTUs. This low fuel cost makes TAGG (generation plus transmission) a more economic alternative to gas fired combined cycle combustion turbines when natural gas exceeds approximately $3.00 per million BTU.
