115 kV EPC Transmission Line Project, Chiang Rai - Thailand

PEA Transmission Lines.Black & Veatch was selected by Provincial Electricity Authority of Thailand (PEA) to supply, construct and install a 115 kV, single conductor per phase on a self-supporting lattice steel tower transmission line. The first 42 km of the line from Chiang Rai is double circuit while the remaining western 50 km segment is single circuit. The work includes dismantling the existing 33 kV line. The line is located in northern Thailand near the Burmese border and passes through densely wooded and environmentally sensitive hilly terrain and reserve forests of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces. The total line route is 92 km and is divided into two contract segments of 56 and 36 kms. The conductor is 795 ACSR "CONDOR", and the overhead ground wire is OPGW.

The work consists of the design, manufacturing, factory testing, delivery at site, erection, testing on site, commissioning and maintenance for the supply of steel towers, foundations and grounding materials, conductors, overhead ground wire, insulators hardware and accessories and all works related to transport and erection including dismantling of the existing 33 kV transmission line.

Black & Veatch and Siam Civil Engineering Co. Ltd of Thailand in joint venture are EPC contractors of the project. The contract was awarded in September 1999 and was completed in 2001.
