Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand
230 kV Chaengwatthana Transmission Line EPC, Bangkok
Black & Veatch has contracted with the Electricity Generating Authority
of Thailand (EGAT) to design, procure and construct a four-circuit 230
kV transmission line of 14 km length in the greater Bangkok Area, Thailand.
The contract consists of the following three line sections: Chaengwatthana
to North Bangkok Junction, North Bangkok Junction to Latphrao and North
Bangkok to North Bangkok Junction.
The three line segments of this 230 kV transmission line pass through
the very densely populated greater Bangkok metropolis where 10 million
people live. This is a unique project crossing three major highways,
an expressway and several primary roads, including a major river, crossing
of over 500 m span.
Black & Veatch (Thailand) and Elin Engietechnik of Germany in joint
venture are the EPC contractors of this prestigious transmission line
project. The construction of the project began in September 1999 and
was completed in 2001.
