Palmdale Water District Wind Energy Project
Black & Veatch investigated over 30 self-generation options to the Palmdale Water District, and provided detailed analysis of wind, solar, and natural gas options. The wind energy study included wind monitoring, energy production estimates, market analysis, and detailed feasibility assessment. Based on this analysis, PWD chose to install a single wind turbine at their water treatment plant. Black & Veatch then acted as the owner’s engineer for this project, which included technical and project management support for interconnection, permitting, bid evaluation, and construction monitoring. Black & Veatch also coordinated the project’s net metering application and 50-percent buy-down incentive through Southern California Edison. Upon completion of the project, Black & Veatch performed operations training and is monitoring the turbine's performance for PWD.
