Black & Veatch PEAKS

Overview

PEAKS is Black & Veatch’s comprehensive performance management and measurement system. Standing for “Project Excellence Achieved through Knowledge Systems,” it is designed to provide a consistent approach to managing, executing, and controlling the company’s federal government-assigned work. The key goal of Black & Veatch PEAKS is to provide the framework to achieve the technical work scope and performance goals on or ahead of schedule and within budget, using integrated and disciplined project management principles and processes.

Black & Veatch PEAKS describes the processes used to manage, develop and integrate the technical, schedule and cost of work performed when a “fully capable” Earned Value Management System (EVMS) is required. It enables overall program, project, site and task planning; integrated tracking, controlling and reporting of work tasks; and subcontractor data gathering and integration from numerous locations. These capabilities permit managing, scheduling and controlling limited resources for both refurbishment and new construction.

Among its benefits, Black & Veatch PEAKS:

  • Drives consistency
  • Minimizes or eliminates duplication of effort
  • Monitors and reports on progress against established baselines
  • Provides subcontractor direction, achieving optimum value for government clients through disciplined project management

PEAKS is Black & Veatch's systematic, uniform approach for establishing a project’s technical work scope, schedule and cost baselines, and comparing performance to established goals, milestones and the value of completed work. Black & Veatch PEAKS also provides a controlled method of maintaining baselines and making changes to those baselines. It is designed with sufficient flexibility to function within the constraints of both federal government and commercial planning and budgeting processes.
