Black & Veatch Names Dan Churchman Chief Engineer for Nuclear Organization

Overland Park , KS . ( September 20, 2005) – Black & Veatch Corporation, a leading global engineering, consulting and construction company, has named Dan Churchman as Chief Engineer for its Nuclear Organization.

Churchman, who has over 20 years of experience in nuclear reactor operation, engineering and nuclear business development, will be responsible for nuclear engineering functions as Black & Veatch grows its Nuclear Services business.

“Dan is an important addition to our nuclear management team,” stated Steve Rus, Senior Vice President and Director of Black & Veatch’s Nuclear Organization. “He will manage our nuclear engineering processes and procedures as well as supervise our nuclear staff and their technical deliverables. Under Dan's leadership, our Nuclear Services engineering quality and performance will be strengthened to meet the growing needs of the Nuclear Industry.”

Prior to joining Black & Veatch, Churchman held various technical and management positions with Entergy including the position of Senior Reactor Operator at Entergy’s Arkansas Nuclear One. He was also a United States Navy Surface Warfare Officer, Nuclear Power Specialist, which included duties as a Station Officer aboard the USS Enterprise.

Black & Veatch has extensive nuclear expertise, both domestic and international, that includes the design of a two-unit, 1,350 megawatt Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR) plant in Taiwan. Black & Veatch is participating on the Nuclear Energy Institute / Electric Power Research Institute Combined Operating License Task Force authoring chapters and performing inspections, test, analyses, and acceptance criteria work. In addition, the company is participating in several of the Department of Energy's 2010 Initiatives for the Economically Simplified Boiling Water Reactor (ESBWR) program and performance of Nuclear Services for domestic nuclear plants.
