Black & Veatch Study at Gatwick AirportBlack & Veatch has successfully completed a technical study, including survey and modelling for the world’s leading airport company BAA at London Gatwick Airport to improve sewer discharges. Working with TPS Consult, Black & Veatch updated the existing hydraulic model of the foul sewers and pumping stations that serve the airport’s North Terminal, and also proposed measures to meet the commissioning of Pier 6*. Due to construction time constraints, both temporary and permanent solutions for accommodating the Pier 6 flows were proposed, as well as an assessment to meet the demands of the passenger forecasts to 2013. Baseline assessment and drop tests on pumping stations were conducted, whilst a Black & Veatch desk study analysed throughput and water consumption. *Pier 6 is connected to the main terminal by a bridge over a live taxiway. The largest bridge of its kind in the world enabling B747 aircraft to pass underneath. For more press information, please contact Christopher French: About Black & Veatch ### |
