Black & Veatch Appoints Nuclear Sales And Marketing Manager

Overland Park, Kan. (December 6, 2004) – Black & Veatch Corporation, a leading global engineering, consulting and construction company, today announced the appointment of Robert A. Wlodek as its Nuclear Group’s Sales and Marketing Manager. Wlodek will be responsible for expanding Black & Veatch’s nuclear services role with electric utilities, identifying clients and maintaining contacts, and project overview of nuclear assignments.

Within Black & Veatch Energy, the Nuclear Group is responsible for the company’s nuclear-related work, and is focused on two market segments: services for existing nuclear plants and design/build opportunities for new nuclear plants.

“Bob Wlodek brings to Black & Veatch more than 30 years of power industry experience with specific knowledge and expertise in nuclear power plant engineering services,” said Steve Rus, Senior Vice President and Director of the Nuclear Group. “Bob’s experience and knowledge will allow Black & Veatch more opportunities to bring value creation solutions to our nuclear power plant clients.”

Prior to joining Black & Veatch, Wlodek was the Midwest regional client manager for Proto-Power Corporation, an engineering services company. Wlodek is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a BS in Metallurgical Engineering. He also earned a MBA from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Black & Veatch is one of only a handful of companies in the world engaged in work on advanced nuclear power plants. The company is currently providing significant portions of the nuclear island design and equipment supply as well as the information/configuration management systems for the new advanced nuclear power plant project in Taiwan, which consists of two units rated at 1,350 megawatts of electric energy (MWe) each.

Within the United States, the Black & Veatch Nuclear Group primarily pursues the existing nuclear plant services market as well as new-build nuclear projects. It is also engaged in new, advanced reactor initiatives for future nuclear projects globally.
