Black & Veatch Appoints New Outside Board MemberOverland Park, Kan. (July 6, 2004) – Black & Veatch, a leading global engineering, consulting and construction company, today announced that Steven H. Wunning has joined the Black & Veatch Board of Directors. Wunning is a group president and executive officer member of Caterpillar Inc., the world’s largest manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines and industrial gas turbines. He also has administrative responsibility for five Caterpillar divisions (Financial Product Division, Latin America Division, Logistics Division, Product Support Division and Systems & Process Division). “Steve has been responsible for innovation and growth of key business units at Caterpillar,” said Black & Veatch Chairman, President and CEO Len C. Rodman. “His experience and leadership will be a valuable addition to our Board.” Wunning began his career at Caterpillar in 1973 and has held a variety of positions with increasing responsibility in the areas of quality, manufacturing, product support and logistics. In 1987, he was one of the first employees in the newly formed subsidiary, Caterpillar Logistics Services, Inc., which was established to leverage Caterpillar’s expertise by providing logistics services to other companies. He became vice president of Cat Logistics in 1990 and president in 1994. In 1998, Wunning was named corporate vice president with responsibility for the Logistics & Products Services Division, and in 2000 was named corporate vice president with responsibility for the Logistics Division.
