Black & Veatch’s Gas, Oil & Chemicals (GOC) Division
has been active in Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) projects since the early
1950s and was involved in one of the earliest base load facilities
at CAMEL in Algeria. Since that time, we have been involved in the
design and construction of numerous base load, peak shaver and LNG
terminal and storage facilities. Black & Veatch has developed a
proprietary mixed refrigerant process, PRICO®, which has been successfully
used in both base load and peak shaving applications.
PRICO® is a natural gas liquefaction process that uses a single
mixed refrigerant loop and a single refrigeration compression system.
PRICO® greatly simplifies the piping, controls and equipment for
the liquefaction unit that translates into capital cost savings of
up to 30 percent.
Black & Veatch’s project experience covers liquefaction
units ranging from 4 million standard cubic feet per day (MMcfd)
to over 800 MMscfd in both domestic and foreign locations. Our LNG
terminal projects’ throughputs have ranged from 200 MMscfd
to 2,000 MMscfd, both onshore and offshore. Black & Veatch’s
experience in LNG terminals dates back to the first terminal in Korea.
We have recently been the engineer on the newest onshore LNG terminal
in the United States and the newest offshore terminal.
