Although widely known for our large power station expertise, Black & Veatch offers extensive experience with distributed generation technologies. For example, in the past 6 years alone, Black & Veatch has installed nearly 100 engine generator units representing approximately 65 MW of generating capacity.

Engine generators are one of the most economical distributed generation technologies available today, but Black & Veatch is also at the forefront of emerging distributed generation technologies including the following:

Avista Labs Fuel Cell Alliance

In 1999, Black & Veatch entered into an alliance with Avista Labs, makers of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell. The intent of the alliance is to pursue joint marketing and installation opportunities for fuel cell generators in projects known as Single Point Development, a concept to advance the environmental quality and economic efficiency of building infrastructure for everything from new communities to high tech business campuses.
