How do I sign in?

New registrant

After searching for jobs and clicking the button Apply for Jobs in Job Basket, the Identification page displays. Click on the hyperlink: Are you a new applicant? Click here to register. From here you must enter your email address and confirm your password. Make sure to use a password that is less than 12 characters.

Need an e-mail address?

There are many sites on the internet that provide free access to e-mail accounts (for example: Lycos Mail or Hotmail). For other free email services click here.

If you are a current Black & Veatch employee go to Employee Self Service in PeopleSoft. For detailed instructions go to the BV iNet > PeopleSoft > Learn How To… > All Employees > eRecruit.

I forgot my password. What can I do?

Click "I Forgot My Password Hyperlink". The system will generate and send you a new random password to your e-mail account.

How can I apply for a position at Black & Veatch?

Go to Black & Veatch’s Online Career Center and choose from our Experienced Career Opportunities or College Relations and Entry Level Opportunities.

Click on ENTER to reach the Applicant Home Page. Click on View Job Postings / Apply for Job to search our open positions and complete our online application. Leave search criteria blank and click on Search button to display all jobs or enter the search criteria before clicking the search button to narrow your search. View the Job Posting list and click on the Job Basket box to add jobs to your job basket. Click on the button Apply for Jobs in Job Basket

Earlier I registered but didn't have time to complete my online application. Now when I try to log in I receive an error message. Why doesn’t the system recognize my e-mail and password?

You must complete and submit your online application before your e-mail address and password will be saved. If you close your browser without submitting your application it is like canceling your online application. If this happens either because your session timed out or you did not complete the process by clicking the submit button, the error message you will receive when you attempt to log in with your email address and password is: “We have no record of your email address.” You will need to register again. How do I search for an open position?

All of the current Open Positions - click on SEARCH

Open Positions in a particular country - click on the “Country” look-up icon

Open Positions in a specific category

  • Select one or more Job Categories by putting a checkmark beside the category of your choice
  • Click on SEARCH

To search for open positions that have a specific word (or words) in the title or description:

  • Input the word in the 'Keywords in Job Title'
  • Click on SEARCH

You can search on one or more of the above criteria by following the instructions above.

Can I apply for more than one job at a time?

Yes, our Online Careers Center provides the opportunity to apply for multiple job opportunities; however you must use the same resume if applying on the same day. Currently, system limitations only allow one resume per day.

When completing my online application, the system returned me to the sign on page. What happened?

For your protection and privacy, you are allotted 10 minutes of inactivity only. If you stop activity for more than 10 minutes the system will time you out when you return. Typing your resume rather than pasting the resume may cause the system to time out since it will not recognize activity until you click OK on that page. The system does not recognize your e-mail address and password if you do not complete and submit your application.

Can I include a cover letter in my online application?

Yes, if you choose to provide a cover letter you must paste it with your resume text. Your cover letter will be visible and attached to all requisitions to which you apply to on the same day

How can I customize my resume for different open positions?

You will need to apply on different days. The resumes are "date" stamped but not "time" stamped.

If you customize your resume and apply for one open position in the morning (Aug 2) and another open position in the afternoon (Aug 2), the one in the afternoon will display on both open positions. However, if you apply on Aug 2nd (Resume 1) and Aug 3rd (Resume 2), the open position will display the appropriate resume.

I made a mistake in my application. Can I go back in and correct it?

If the mistake was to your contact information you can update it at any time. There is no limit to how many times you can update your contact details. However, your resume text and information entered into application fields (i.e. Education, References, etc) cannot be changed if you do not change it the same day. Once you submit an application, the system secures that information for that date. If you change this information on the same day the system will save the last resume and online application submitted.

Why can't I view my resume text?

You are unable to view your resume text once it has cleared Black & Veatch’s firewall. Please make sure you have checked your resume before submitting your online application. Tip: For a record of the text resume you submitted, save a copy on your personal hard drive or other data device.

How will I know that my application has been received?

The receipt of applications submitted through the online recruitment system will be confirmed both on the system and through e-mail that will be sent to the e-mail account that you used to register. Black & Veatch will not confirm receipt of any resumes over the phone.

How will I know the closing date on an open position?

Black & Veatch does not have closing dates on our vacant positions. There are several reasons for a position to remain open / posted:

  • The recruiter and/or hiring manager would like to have a large pool of applicants before ranking and selecting applicants to interview.
  • The recruiter and/or hiring manager may have multiple projects or the work load is prohibitive to interviewing immediately.
  • There are multiple openings for the position. The position will remain open until all of the openings are filled.

Can I submit my resume without choosing an open position?

No, Black & Veatch does not accept unsolicited paper or e-mailed applications/resumes.

When will recruiters and/or hiring managers have access to my application?

Once your application is submitted for a specific position, recruiters and hiring managers will have immediate access to your application. However, because of the volume of applications we receive, recruiters and/or the hiring managers may not contact you at that time.

I applied for a position a few weeks ago and noticed that the position is still posted. Should I reapply?

No, if you applied for a specific position with a particular reference number and it is still posted in our Online Career Center, you will not need to apply a second time.

There are several reasons for a position to remain open / posted:

  • The recruiter and/or hiring manager would like to have a large pool of applicants before ranking and selecting applicants to interview.
  • The recruiter and/or hiring manager may have multiple projects or the work load is prohibitive to interviewing immediately.
  • There are multiple openings for the position. The position will remain open until all of the openings are filled.

How long do you keep applications on file?

Black & Veatch keeps applications on file for two (2) years plus year to date.

If an open position is listed as full-time, how many hours a week can I expect to work?

40+ hours a week, 52 weeks per year is considered as full-time at Black & Veatch.

How do I check on the status of my application?

Go to Black & Veatch’s Online Career Center and choose from our Experienced Career Opportunities or College Relations and Entry Level Opportunities.

Click on ENTER to reach the Applicant Home Page. Log in by entering your email address and password. Then click on View Application Status.

Can I paste my resume when applying on-line?

Yes, due to time out issues we recommend you paste rather than type your resume in the text box. Go to the Applicant Home Page and click on either "Create/Update Resume" or View Job Postings/Apply for Job. The first step of the on-line resume allows you to paste your resume text.

Do I need to complete all of the fields within the on-line application?

No, only certain fields are required and these are noted with an asterisk*. However, it is preferable that your application contain as much information as possible for the following reasons:

  • Our recruiters will use the information you provide to assist in screening for open positions.
  • Recruiters and hiring managers review work experience, education, training, certification/license, and references to match qualifications for open positions.
  • Contact information is necessary to correspond and communicate with you and any references you provide.

What browsers are compatible with Black & Veatch’s Online Career Center?

The preferred web browser is Microsoft Internet Explorer 6. However the following operating systems and browsers work as well:

  • Microsoft Windows XP using Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or Netscape Navigator 6.2x
  • Other browsers may work if they support HTML 4.0, JavaScript 1.1, CSS-1, SSL, and cookies

Cookies must be enabled. The reason for this is that our application process uses session level cookies that live in the browser memory only. This cookie is encrypted and check-summed to prevent tampering. The cookie disappears when a user closes this session. No cookies are saved to the user's hard disk. We do not use cookies to track surfing habits nor to collect data.

Black & Veatch Online Career Center Application Tips

Are you having difficulty submitting your online application? Listed below are hints and tips for a successful online application submittal:

Delete Browser Cache:

  • Go to (Microsoft): Start > Settings > Control Panel > Internet Options > Delete Files.
  • Select OK.
  • A pop up window appears - check delete line content and select OK

  • Go to (Netscape 7.1): Edit menu > Preferences > under Advanced category, click "Cache" (If no subcategories are visible, double-click Advanced to expand the list) > click "Clear Cache"

Delete Cookies: (Microsoft XP)

  • Go to: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Internet Options > Delete Cookies.
  • Select OK.
  • A pop up window appears - select OK

Verify Your Settings:

You might need to disable or modify your settings for the following in order to accommodate the online application:

  • Internet Filtering and Monitoring Software
  • Personal Firewall
  • You may need to modify Privacy Setting (Medium to High)
