Dr. Martha W. Gilliland
Senior Fellow, Council for Aid to Education in New York City, RAND Corporation
Martha W. Gilliland joined the Black & Veatch Board of Directors in 2004. She was Chancellor of the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) from 2002 to 2005. She has held engineering faculty and executive positions at the University of Arizona, Tulane University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She holds a doctorate in environmental engineering/systems ecology from the University of Florida.
Dr. Gilliland was appointed by President George W. Bush to the President’s Council of Advisors for Science and Technology, and is consulting with the Edgar Snow Board on strategic directions for the Kansas City relationship with the People’s Republic of China. She also is currently a Senior Fellow at the Council for Aid to Education, a subsidiary of the RAND Corporation in New York City.
